Dear TTE Families,

I hope you and your loved ones had a very happy and delicious Thanksgiving.  It is hard to believe that we are now less than three weeks away from our Winter Break.

I want to thank you once again for your support of our very first "Stone Soup Day". With your help our first grade students raised an amazing $1,325.00!!!  The students and their teachers will be doing some critical thinking and collaboration to decide what animals they want to purchase through Heifer International

Also, the district communications team was at TTE on Stone Soup Day and put together a wonderful story and video about our efforts.  Please use this link to view the story and video on the district's website.
Thanks again for helping make Timber Trail the school "Where Hearts and Minds Connect."

Warmly,

Michele Radke
Principal

HATS ON FOR DIABETES!
Timber Trail will be having a HATS ON DAYS to Help Stop Diabetes on
Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 5.  $1.00 donation to wear a cap/hat to school!
All money will go the American Diabetes Association. Please visit www.diabetes.org for more information.

"LEAN ON ME" BAKE SALE ON TUESDAY,  DECEMBER 9
Our third graders have been hard at work trying to make the holidays a little brighter for local families within their current PBL unit, titled "Lean on Me."  Each third grade class has "adopted" a family of five (25 people total) through the Women's Crisis and Family Center in Castle Rock.  The students will provide holiday presents to each family member. Students have been working hard to raise money at home and will be hosting a bake sale on  Tuesday 12/9  at lunch time (grades 1-5).  The bake sale will supplement the goal of raising $500-$600 per classroom.  Baked goods will be $1.00 cash and all proceeds will go directly into a pot that will be divided equally for each class to purchase the gifts.  Thank you for helping us with this wonderful project.

AN HOUR OF CODE- THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 15-18
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and less students are studying it than a decade ago.
That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week. Last year, 15 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we're joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students!
Our Hour of Code is a statement that Timber Trail Elementary is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event huge. Visit code.org if you would like to preview the program.  Look for An Hour of Code class schedule and sign up sheet in this week's Thursday folder.
