Dear Timber Trail Elementary Families,

As we work towards promoting student wellness in all areas, we want to ensure that every student in Douglas County knows how and where to report concerns at their school. Possible concerns may include bullying, stealing, fights, threats, drugs/alcohol, abuse, self-injurious behavior, and/or suicidal ideation. We encourage and emphasize reporting any actions that jeopardize a student’s individual safety or the safety of others.

Based on students’ development levels, teachers will be exploring this topic in the classroom with their students:

  • Elementary school students will learn about what a healthy relationship looks like by discussing attributes of a good friend. They will also discuss the important difference between tattling and telling and bullying versus normal conflict.

  • Middle school students will explore what “normal behavior” is and what possible at-risk behaviors should be reported.

  • High school students will review resources such as Text-A-Tip and Safe2Tell which are available 24/7 so that they always have a way to report concerns. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in open dialogues about past experiences when they may have had a concern about someone’s safety.

We encourage you to support our efforts by discussing this month’s topic of “How and When to Report” with your student. Remember that if your child shares thoughts or behaviors that concern you, you can follow the A.C.T. model (Acknowledge, Care, Tell). Check us out next month when we introduce the topic of healthy habits, self-care and coping skills.

Your child’s safety is of the utmost importance, and we at Timber Trail Elementary will do all we can to support every student’s well-being.  There are many resources available to you at your student’s school (counselor, mental health provider, teacher) and in the community. If your child has expressed thoughts of harming himself/herself and you need immediate assistance, please dial 911 or bring your child to the nearest emergency room. Please consider the resources offered on the  PREVENTION and SCHOOL CULTURE website and determine if they may be appropriate for your family.

In Partnership,

Michele Radke, Principal

Nicole Goering, Ed.S., NCSP- Licensed School Psychologist

We want to thank our staff for their dedication and support in keeping our students safe.

IN THE EVENT OF A DELAYED START, our start time is 10:00 am 10:05 am tardy bell), with a drop off time starting at 9:50 am.  Bus routes are on a 90 minute delayed schedule. Morning enrichment classes  are canceled.  Child care (B.A.S.E.) is also on a 90 minute delayed start. Dismissal time does not change with a delayed start.  This means that morning kindergarten will still dismiss at 11:30 am.  All students will dismiss at 3:30 pm.

As always, safety comes first.  If parents choose to keep children home for safety concerns, we will respect that decision.

Due to the Fifth Graders Annual Thanksgiving Feast, all lunch and recess times have been changed to accommodate the fifth graders and their guests.  Thank you for your understanding.
