Dear Timber Trail Families,

Wow!  I want to thank you for making our first Showcase Event a tremendous success.  It was great to see so many of you on Monday evening.

As I spoke with parents throughout the evening, several asked why we had decided to host this evening. Our Showcase Event was designed for parents to see and experience first hand what their students have been learning during the first semester of school.  Students became the teachers and presenters and were so proud to share their projects and experiences with their families.  As we know, students learn best through authentic, hands on experiences, and we wanted to give our parents that same opportunity.  This was also a time for you to see and experience our new MakerSpace which was made possible by your generosity.

We also wanted parents to see the other parts of the school, curriculum or their child's day besides the classroom; for example the specials classes, library, and MakerSpace.  In addition, the 5th grade ‘Trash to Treasure’ art silent auction raised over $700 for the Washed Ashore and Stand for Trees organizations.

We hope that you found the Showcase Event informative, purposeful and fun.  I would be happy to hear feedback from you as we look to next year and making this a yearly event.

Have a wonderful long weekend and thanks for making Timber Trail the school where “Hearts and Minds Connect”.

Michele Radke, Principal
