Click here for 2016-2017 Stone Mountain calendar PTO News SME PTO is excited to announce the first annual SPRING FLING Event on April 29th from 5:30-7:30 on the grounds of Stone Mountain. Please join us for a fun FREE night of music, bounce houses, climbing wall, lawn games and video game truck. Food will be available from a variety of food trucks for purchase! Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets and non-alcoholic beverages and enjoy a fun night for the whole family! *This event is sponsored by the PTO Class Placements for 2016-2017 During this time of year, we begin planning for the 2016-2017 school year. An important part of the planning process is determining classroom placements for next year. This process takes careful thought and consideration to ensure that we make successful classroom assignments. These assignments are made based on the following specific considerations (not listed in any particular order):
All of these considerations are given to every student and weighed carefully based on their individual needs. Preliminary lists are created and reviewed by all personnel the building – teachers, administration, and our support staff. Class placements will go out two weeks before schools starts. We wait until late July primarily because of possible changes in our student population and faculty. We welcome parent participation in this process. Parents often have valuable insight that can support our thinking and decisions. If you choose to provide input for classroom placement, please send an email to Mrs. Franci before April 8th. We do not accept requests for specific teachers, however, we are interested in any information you think may be important including learning styles and social and behavioral issues. This information is confidential and is only seen by Mr. B and Mrs. Franci. All input will be carefully considered, however decisions will be made after reviewing multiple criteria. As a result, we cannot guarantee your request for a child’s placement. Whether or not you turn in any information, please be assured that all of the factors listed above will be considered for every child. Family Service Day We are so excited for our 2nd Family Service Day on Friday, April 22nd (students do not have school). Please join us in the cafeteria anytime between 9:00-11:00. Parents and children will be working on projects that are helping local and national charities and groups. The projects will be geared toward children, and all family members are invited. This is not a drop off activity. It is a time for families to work together to show our children the value of helping others. We look forward to seeing you there!
