Every Kid in a Park Program
Parents-Did you know that the National Park Service provides every Fourth Grader with a free National Park pass? The child and everyone in the car with them gets free access to every National Park. Use this link to find out how to sign your child up for this amazing opportunity!

A few highlights from our reading block include fluency practice, sharing their word work and reading responses on SeeSaw, and working in small groups with Mrs. Willie and their peers.  Before break each students presented their Character in a Can project.  After the whole group presentations were complete, the kids had an opportunity to

We have deepened our understanding of character traits, setting, and problem/solution and discussed the influence these elements have on the outcome of the stories read.

I am looking forward to the continuation of building vocabulary with our Greek and Latin Root word study. The class had a brief introduction. We will be expanding Greek and Latin Roots word work opportunities throughout the school year.

Social Studies / Science

Your Fourth Grade Teachers are hard at work planning hands on Science and Social Studies activities.

Students are expected to write their homework assignments in their planners each day they have homework.

I am in the process of setting up a student/parent communication system that allows students to notify their parent(s) in the event of a missing assignment. We will use this information to work together to help your child achieve success at school and take responsibility for their homework assignments. This will be a new system for me. Your feedback will help me make necessary adjustments throughout the year.

We are using Eureka Math this year. I am excited about teaching math using this curriculum. I have provided a link above to help you access helpful information for parents, including Tips for Parents and Homework Helpers. My math class will be assembling binders to help with the organization of daily materials and evidence of their learning in the classroom. These binders will go home with the kids each night so they have the resources easily accessible while completing their homework.
