What are we learning?

Mrs. Byrne's Reading Class:  We will begin the year with learning expectations in reading.  We will begin with the study and review of short vowels, digraphs, and sight words.  We will have assessments to determine each child's individual reading needs.  We will be using Fundations for our phonics study, Lucy Calkins, and Guided Reading.

Math: We will begin the year working on subtraction and addition strategies.  We will start with Module 1 in Eureka math.

Science:  We will begin the year with a study of plants and animals.

Social Studies:  We will be focusing on communities throughout the first two months of school.  We will spend a lot of time building expectations and community within our classroom and school.

Writing:   We will start the year off with learning about narrative writing.
