Principal's Update

September 19, 2017

Hello SRE families!

It is unbelieveable that, in a few short days from now, the official start of the Fall season is upon us.. We have enjoyed several exciting weeks; they have been filled with incredible learning, culture building activities, creating and practicing classroom and school-wide expectations, strengthening relationship and setting/working towards educational goals.

Many thanks to all of our amazing families for the continued support and love shown to the SRE staff. SRE staff members are truly phenomenal Education Rockstars! We are thankful, grateful and blessed :o)

Below are a few updates that summarize the first 5 weeks of the 2017-2018 school year:

    • Current Open Positions (via DCSD job postings)

      • Custodian (full time)

  • SRE Mustang Stampede

    • The 4th Annual SRE Mustang Stampede Fundraiser is Tuesday, September 26th!

    • Every student will trot through the halls to raise money for SRE. 100% of the donations collected stay at SRE and are used for math, science and technology needs for every student in the school. This allows the school's budget to stay focused on maintaining small class sizes, which is an important aspect and part of why we love SRE. We need everyone's help to reach our goal!  $40 per student will get us there. If your employer does matching funds, that would be a huge help!

  • SRE & Philanthropy

    • A partnership between SRE and Highline Place, a memory care center in Littleton, started in February 2017. We are continuing this school year and would love to have you part of this wonderful experience. Small groups of interested SRE staff members and students/parents can visit Highline once a month (Thursdays) 3:45-4:45 to read and talk with the residents. What an incredible display of respect, compassion, kindness and selflessness!

  • Weather Reminder

    • Fall weather in Colorado is always interesting! With the possibility of afternoon storms most days,, we would like to remind you of our Lightning dismissal procedure. We will send an email, along with an App alert, as soon as the decision is made to hold the Lightning dismissal (usually not later than 3:20pm). When we have a Lightning dismissal, you must come into the school and go directly to your children's classroom to retrieve them when you feel it is safe to do so. Please have a plan in place if you are unable to get to the school for this type of release, such as having an emergency contact pick up your students. We will certainly keep our students safe in the building if you are unable to get here right at dismissal time. With your permission, we will release students who walk home, once the weather alert passes.
