Anti-Bullying Information

PL3- Safe...Respectful...Responsible

LETTER TO PINE LANE FAMILIES:
It seems that each time we open a newspaper or turn on a news media show, we hear about another incident of bullying.  I know we have our own experiences of bullying from our childhood years.  We pride ourselves at Pine Lane Elementary School in providing a place for all to grow and learn without having to worry about being bullied or becoming a bully.  What the research tells us, unfortunately, is that adults often miss incidents of bullying.  We hope to be proactive in partnering with you and our students to ensure the safest environment we can imagine.

Research reminds us that a one-time event to address bullying (such as a one time assembly) does not change culture.  What does change the culture of a place is an intentional, on-going effort. Additionally, it takes each person in the community to play a role in supporting the effort for change.  As the year progresses, look for more information from our staff, our students and us to come home.  Reading the things that come home and talking them over with your child will support our efforts.

Enjoy the following article entitled, What is Bullying?  Talk to your child and don’t hesitate to contact anyone from our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Team to talk further about the information in the article.
