Support Programs

English Language Learners--English Language Learners benefit from additional support and instruction with our ELL learning specialist, who also teaches at Mountain Vista High School.  This connection allows us to truly support our ELL students as they transition through middle school and into high school.

Special Education--At MRMS, we follow the inclusion model for special education services.  In math and language arts classes, a learning specialist co-teaches with a content teacher, allowing students to receive additional support within the regular classroom.  Students with IEP’s work with a Learning Specialist case manager who is assigned to their academic team.  You can get more specific information by accessing the MRMS Special Education page through this link.

Literacy Support--Literacy support is available for students who have an Individual Literacy Plan (ILP) and for other students who are not yet reading at grade level proficiency.  Support is provided for these students by a reading specialist who works with students in small groups, providing targeted instruction.  The reading specialist also supports literacy instruction for classroom teachers in meeting the needs of students in the classroom.

WIN-- “Work In Now”—is our after school study program.  WIN is supervised by a teacher, and takes place after school in the MRMS library Mondays through Thursdays from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  You can find additional details about WIN in the Parent WIN Letter document below.
