Shannon Clarke, Principal
I am excited to be back with the Mountain Ridge family. I am beginning my 19th year in education. I spent 8 years teaching middle school and high school Language Arts/English. I worked at the district level for two years coordinating assessments, curriculum, and gifted and talented services. The rest of my time has been spent as a middle school principal, which is where my passion lies. I truly love this age! I am fortunate to walk into a building every day where every teacher and administrator has the same passion and love for middle school students.
I am a Colorado native! I earned my BA in English from Colorado State University and my MA in Administrative Leadership from the University of Colorado. I am married and have one son. We spend a lot of time at the baseball field! I enjoy watching all different kinds of sports, spending time with family, and reading! I love reading books that help keep me up to date on what is happening in education and best practices for middle level learners. I also enjoy relaxing with a good novel!
I am excited to continue working with the Mountain Ridge staff, students, parents and community. Let's make this a great year!
Rob Feeler, Assistant Principal / Athletic Director
I am thrilled to be joining the Mountain Ridge Family! This is my 14th year in education and first in Douglas County. I have spent the last seven years serving as an administrator in Aurora Public Schools and six years before that teaching in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am originally from rural Illinois and received my BA in both Special and Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. While I was in Vegas I obtained my MA from UNLV in Educational Administration and Leadership. I enjoy spending my spare time with my beautiful wife, Melissa, and my two amazing kids, Jaxon and Madelyn. If they are not keeping my busy, I enjoy watching all of my beloved Chicago sports teams!
My first month at Mountain Ridge has been amazing! This is the first school I've been at where the excitement and enthusiasm for learning is contagious. From the students, teachers, staff and parents, this is an awesome place to be! I look forward working with everyone involved in the MRMS community!
Trena Hand, Assistant Principal /Activities Director
This year, I have the privilege of joining Mountain Ridge to serve as the Assistant Principal for 7th grade. I have worked in DCSD since 2004, serving as a middle school and high school language arts, literacy, and ESL teacher. In 2013, I began my career in Educational Leadership and School Administration as an Instructional Coach/Dean of Students, and continued my career path serving as an Assistant Principal, and a eventually a Professional Development Coordinator. My true passion lies within the walls of a middle school though and I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to work with our students and the passionate teachers of MRMS!
In addition to being an educator, I am also a mom to a very precocious six year old named Sullivan who has aspirations to eventually become a Ram. Both he and my husband Matt keep me on my toes with our adventures in traveling, golfing, and enjoying the Colorado outdoors! Though I was born in Indiana, Colorado will always remain my home as I lived here for over twenty years.
It is such a great privilege to join the Mountain Ridge family and I am so excited to begin building partnerships with the students, teachers, parents, and the community of Highlands Ranch.
Robin Fender, Dean of Students
I am excited to start my new adventure at Mountain Ridge! Since arriving, I have been greeted by energetic and motivated staff and students who are ready to tackle a great year of learning. I look forward to experiencing all that Middle School has to offer and am eager to contribute to the already positive environment that I have heard so much about. I have been fortunate to learn and grow for the last 21 years in Douglas County in a multitude of positions ranging from teacher to Administrative Intern, Assistant Principal and Dean. Prior to Douglas County, I spent 4 years as a teacher in Houston, Texas in Alief ISD. After 4 years in Texas, I realized that Colorado was the place I wanted to enjoy my career and all of my outdoor passions -- mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding and just about anything outdoors. As the Dean of Students at Mountain Ridge, I look forward to watching and helping your child grow academically, socially and emotionally by holding myself, staff and students to the Seattle Fish Company’s philosophy of:
BE PRESENT!- MAKE SOMEONE’S DAY!- CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE!- HAVE FUN!
This philosophy has been around for some time, and in my mind, these words can never get old.
Let’s all work together to ROCK this year!
