Chess Class

Flagstone Chess Class Winter/Spring 2014

National Chess Master Todd Bardwick will be offering an eight-week chess class at Flagstone Elementary starting on Thursday, January 16, 2014.

The class will be structured teaching in the first half hour and then the students will play each other the second half hour while Todd gives suggestions, answers questions, and helps them to better understand chess strategies. The students will be introduced to all phases of the game, etiquette, tactics, and strategies. No prior chess knowledge is necessary. K-6th grade welcome.

Chess class will meet in the Room 311 (Science Room) from 8:00-9:00 am on Thursday mornings before school.

Dates for the class are: January 16 & 30; February 13 & 27; March 13; April 10 & 24; May 8 Tuition for the winter/spring session is $150. Todd is a National Master, a 5-time Denver Chess Champion, and writes “The Chess Detective” column for Chess Life magazine. Todd has three books published: Teaching Chess in the 21st Century, Chess Workbook for Children, and Chess Strategy Workbook. Todd also founded the annual Rocky Mountain Chess Camp for children, one of the oldest and largest chess camps in the country.
