    Dear FSE Parents,

What a wonderful and inspiring week that I have had the opportunity to be a part of.  Each year the elementary and middle school feeder principals are invited to participate in the Douglas County High School graduation festivities and this has become one of my favorite times of year.  Between the awards ceremony last night and graduation this morning I am so inspired with the high quality young people that this community raises.  I had the opportunity to hear all the amazing things that these young people have accomplished in their short lives while maintaining such poise, integrity and positivity as they embark on this next chapter of their lives.  The Douglas County community should be very proud of these students, it is a true testament to the overwhelming support and role modeling that goes on this community everyday.  Truly impressive!

On an FSE note, it has been a busy week.  We celebrated Ms. G.’s last week in a school-wide assembly.  It was fun to see FSE graduates come back from DCHS to sing a song in honor of their former music teacher.  We also had a very successful book fair and Muffins for Moms event.  Mrs. Petrillo did an amazing job running the book fair and through her work with parents and kids the kindergarten students raised 68 dollars (the most) for our All For Books Fundraiser, a program that buys books for kids that are in need.

We are super excited to have been awarded the certificate for Digital Citizenship, through Common Sense Media,  See this link for more information.  Listed below are the topics that we are required to teach in order to get this distinction.

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and long holiday weekend!

     Kelli Smith, FSE Principal
