Meet the Administrators of New Britain High School

Principal - Mr. Joseph Pinchera
Mr. Pinchera received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Health Education. He completed his Masters and Sixth Year degrees at CCSU in Educational Leadership and has been working in education for 18 years; 16 of which he has worked in the New Britain Schools. After teaching PE/Health at the middle school level, he was an Assistant Principal at Pulaski Middle School for two years and is currently in his second year as an Associate Principal here at New Britain High School.

Pinchera states that educational leadership has been very gratifying on many levels. "The day to day job has given me an abundance of opportunities to interact with students, parents, and coworkers in order to make instructional and building changes. These opportunities are extremely rewarding and I truly feel as though urban education is where I am supposed to be. NBHS has so much to offer both in the classroom along with extra-curricular activities. I am very proud to be part of it. One particular part of the job that I am very proud of is my role as scholarship administrator. Working with staff and students to pull off such a spectacular event every June is a great way to wrap up the school year...My hope is to continue to grow as a leader and to work toward attaining my doctorate in the near future."

Associate Principal - Mr. James Brasile
Mr. James Brasile was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut. He graduated from New Britain High School with the class of 2000 and was lucky enough to have been taught by, or be classmates with, several of the current faculty and staff. He then attended Fairfield University, and in 2004, came back to NBHS to teach English.

During his twelve years of teaching, Mr. Brasile pursued advanced degrees from Fairfield University, Trinity College and Southern Connecticut State University. After his years of teaching English, he accepted the position of Associate Principal. Mr. Brasile is very proud to be a native of New Britain and a part of the educational system that has provided so much to his own life and to that of his parents and grandparents.

Associate Principal - Mrs. Kerri-Lynn Major
I received my Bachelor’s of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut with a major in English. I then completed my Master’s Degree at Sacred Heart University and my Sixth Year degree back at the University of Connecticut. I started my teaching career here at New Britain High School 11 years ago and this is my fourth year as an Associate Principal.

If you ask my mom she will tell you I was born to work in education, and bore you with stories of me playing “teacher” with my younger brothers. The truth is, there is nothing more gratifying and rewarding than seeing a child make positive changes in the present that you know will support them in having a successful future. Knowing that you are a part of that process is what makes all of this worthwhile! I look forward to continuing to work with the children in New Britain.

Associate Principal - Ms. Margaret Shea
“Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela

Ms. Shea has been teaching in New Britain for the past 25 years, the last twelve she spent teaching at New Britain High. She says, “I believe educators are the unsung heroes and sheroes of our country. The teachers that impacted me the most were the ones that made me think of a world outside my own that I could help change. That is why I became an educational leader. The students and families in New Britain have enlightened me. My career in New Britain has afforded me the opportunity to work with multi-generational families.”

Ms. Shea received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University with a major in Art Education. She then earned her Masters in Art Administration from Bank Street College of Education and Parson’s School of Design in New York City. Ms. Shea completed her sixth-year degree at Southern Connecticut State University in Educational Leadership.

In the past four years, Shea has had various experiences working as an administrator throughout our district. She is excited to be part of the new administrative team at New Britain High.
