This week as we return from break I hope you feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for the final quarter of the school year! Let's use this opportunity for a fresh start ... to either reset habits/patterns of behavior that need adjusting or to continue the routines that have led to success thus far this school year.We will be focusing this week on the second half of chapter 8 with explorations of the number "e", the use of natural logs, properties related to natural logs, and applications of this function. We will also look at how to find the sum of infinite geometric series that converge as they approach infinity. NOTE: Need to see last week's assignments? Click on the "Archive" link below... Monday (4/5): No School - Last Day of Spring BreakTuesday (4/6): Lesson 8.2.1 - The Number "e"Homework: Rev/Prev 8-70 to 8-78 + 8-59 to 8-61Extended: Chapter 7 Test Corrections - tentatively due by Friday, April 9Block Day (4/7 or 4/8): Lesson 8.2.2 Applications of eHomework: Rev/Prev 8-87 to 8-96Friday (4/9): Lesson 8.2.3 Infinite Geometric SeriesHomework: Rev/Prev 8-104 to 8-107, 8-109, 8-110, 8-112, 8-113Upcoming Assessments:Chapter 8 Team Test - Tuesday, April 13Chapter Quest (Focus on 8.2 Section) - Tuesday, April 20If you need extra help outside of class time please remember that is okay, it's normal to have questions as you learn. This week we will continue to focus on limits, working to connect how key limit statements can allow us to visualize/graph rational functions without having to rely on technology. We will also make sure that we recall how to work with recursive sequences. We will build understanding all week so that we are ready for a quiz at the end of the week. The grading period ends on Friday and all work from this week will be part of third-quarter grades. This week we start to explore concepts from Chapter 8 which allows us to revisit limits and extend our understanding of this fundamental calculus concept. We first develop a hierarchy of dominance for limits at infinity. We then focus our efforts on limits of rational functions, understanding how limit statements can help us to visualize the graph. We will also officially assess our understanding of key concepts from chapter 7 at the end of this week.NOTE: Need to see last week's assignments? Click on the "Archive" link below... Monday (3/15): Lesson 8.1.1 - Race to Infinity Homework: Rev/Prev 8-7 to 8-13, 8-15 to 8-17 - due next MondayExtended:  Chapter 7 Additional Review Worksheet (mostly optional) - due Game Day (Friday)Extended:  Mathematics of Finance Project - due next week on Friday, March 26Note: Juniors can skip problems #10, #19, and #27 - 30Tuesday (3/16): Virtual Day - ACT Test for JuniorsHomework: see aboveBlock Day (3/17 or 3/18): Ch 7 Test (Part 1) + Lesson 8.1.2 Limits of Rational Functions Homework: Rev/Prev 8-24 to 8-32Friday (3/19): Chapter 7 Individual TestHomework: ... Work to complete your Mathematics of Finance Project - due next FridayUpcoming Assessments:Chapter 7 Individual Test - Friday, March 19Section 8.1 Quiz - Friday, March 26If you need extra help outside of class time please remember that is okay, it's normal to have questions as you learn. This week we actaully close out chapter 6 and will be assessing our understanding of all things related to trigonometry and then move into chapter 7. Remember what we talked about last week ... this is the toughest chapter we do all year. It builds on everything we have learned about our trigonometric functions, so it is absolutely critical that you put forth effort outside of class time to ensure you reach mastery of this content. And remember, I am here to help you accomplish your goals - there are lots of opportunities to see help outside of class time.NOTE: Need to see last week's assignments?
