INTRODUCTION: Hi everyone,today we are going to be talking about Lucys Warblers. Lucy's Warblers are small singing birds.They live in the Sonoran Desert. They are gray on the top and white on the bottom. They love to sing. They eat many things including insects.Caterpillars are their favorite things to eat. Lucy's Warblers are great animals!!
WHO AM I? I am a small gray songbird. I can be an adult warbler or an Immature warbler. I have a rufous rump. I am one of the smallest warblers. WHERE DO I LIVE? I live in the Sonoran desert. It is very dry and hot where I live. I live in a nest made of twigs and straw. You can usually find me sitting in my nest singing a song.
WHAT DO I EAT?
I love to eat Insects! I can eat any type of insect that is around me. I also tend to eat fruits such as berries.I love to eat caterpillars.
HOW DO I LOOK? I am gray on top and white on the bottom. I have a small pale stripe over my eye. My feet and my bill are both black.
HOW DO I REPRODUCE?
I breed in open holes in the mesquite woods. I fill woodpecker holes to the brim with garbage. After I fill the hole with garbage, I lay my egss there.
FUN FACT ABOUT ME.
I am the only songbird without a spot of yellow. I love to sing out in the desert. Male Warblers sing more than female Warblers.
ACTIVITY
Kindergarten: Draw a picture of a Warbler and color it with the right colors. Then write a sentence about what you learned.
1st-2nd: Make a PowerPoint on a warbler. Find two pictures of a warbler, and add two sentences about what you learned. One picture and one sentence will be on a slide. So you will have two slides in all.
3rd- Make up a paragraph story about a Warbler including things you learned. Include pictures, you can do this in PowerPoint or Word. The story can be a mystery or a comedy. Have fun! WHERE DID YOU FIND INFORMATION ABOUT ME?
