Come on in! Hello my name is Ronnie the Robot and welcome to my classroom! I am learning about the Sonoran Desert but I need your help! Can you help me figure out this clue? I may look like your pet but I run in the wild. I like to be loud and howl like a child. I live in the Sonoran Desert and hunt in a pack. If you come too close, I may attack. Who am I? A COYOTE! ![]() WHO AM I? I am a coyote and I live in the Sonoran Desert. I love to eat small animals and howl at night. I am brown and look very similar to a dog. WHERE DO I LIVE? I live in the Sonoran Desert. I mostly live in Arizona, southern California, and parts of Mexico. I like to live alone or in groups called packs. We like to live and sleep in dens! WHAT DO I EAT? I like to eat small animals like rabbits, rodents, insects, birds, lizards, and snakes. I also like to eat plants and flowers but meat is definitely my favorite! If I am in a big group we will sometimes hunt bigger animals like deer, anteope, elk, and cattle.
![]() HOW DO I LOOK? I have a tan fur coat with brown and grey. My belly is usually white. I have pointy ears and a bushy tail. I may look like your pet dog! HOW DO I REPRODUCE? I have babies in January or February. I have about 5 to 8 pups who stay with me until they are about 2 years old. My pups can go hunt for food when they are only 2 ½ months old! FUN FACT ABOUT ME? I howl to keep track of my family. I also howl to communicate with other coyotes. My favorite time to howl is in the evening or night.

Then have the child(ren) write a short story or fun facts about coyotes. Next, read a story to the child(ren). Third Grade - Have the student(s) write a poem on a Word Document or a sheet of paper about coyotes with pictures.
