Kassie N. Rehorn

Kassie Rehorn is a native Arizonan, born and raised.  She graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory High School in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2009.  She attends Arizona State University, where she has obtained a minor in Human and Family Studies and is pursuing a major in Early Childhood Education through the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.  Kassie will graduate from ASU in 2013, and plans to become a Kindergarten teacher, hoping to teach in Uganda for a few years before coming back to Arizona to teach and settle down.

From a very young age, Kassie has had a passion for working with children and helping others.  She has dedicated the last seven years of her life to volunteering in Arizona's foster care system.  She became close with a foster mother, and with her, helped raise over fifteen children during their stay in the foster care system.  One of Kassie's biggest passions in life is working in Africa.  She made her first trip to Uganda and Tanzania in May 2009, where she travels throughout small villages, working in orphanages, schools, hospitals, crisis nurseries, and works on water projects that brings clean, usable water to remote villages who do not have access to safe water.  She made her second trip back to Africa in June 2011, where she was able to return to visit the many friends she made there, as well as work on new projects and teach English in a primary school in Uganda.  Kassie also became very active with CureSearch for Children's Cancer after her little brother was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in August 2010.
