Teacher's Note

Dear Teacher,

This website is a great way to integrate technology in the classroom.  I made three of the sub pages on this website, which include:  the Black Widow Spider, the Ironwood, and the Buck Moth.  This is a great resource teachers can use for kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students.  It has a videos for the introduction of each crawler, assessments to test what the students have learned, and activities to give the students a chance to have a hands-on experience.  This website also demonstrates the uses of Multiple Intelligence, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the Constructivist Theory.

There are a total of eight Multiple Intelligences.  They include:  verbal/linguistic (word smart), logical/mathematical (number smart), musical (music smart), visual/spatial (art smart), body/kinesthetic (body smart), interpersonal (people smart), intrapersonal (me smart), and naturalist (nature smart).

Bloom’s Taxonomy consists of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.  This is how children learn.

The Constructivist Theory is based on the conception that we learn by relating new experiences to our prior knowledge.  The three principles we can use to deepen our understanding and learning are actively relating new and prior experiences, learning facts and principles of a discipline, and using and managing intellectual abilities well.

Thanks,
Janae Humpherys
