YouTube Video

Hi everyone! I am here to teach you about the Sonoran Desert and different animal and plant life that's in it! Did you know that the Green Lynx Spider lives there? It also lives in Mexico and some parts of Florida. It loves to be in shrubs and fields, woods, tall grass, and flower heads. This spider loves to eat small insects. They are bright green and have an oval body. They have six eyes and only two of them face forward. These spiders lay eggs and do you want to hear a fun fact about them? They don't catch their pray on their webs like other spiders, they wait on shrubs and pounce on them like a cat!

WHO AM I?

I am a large crawler. I am a spider who’s name is the Green Lynx Spider.
WHERE DO I LIVE?

I live in the southern United States, Mexico, and Central America in the shrub-like plants. I am also very common throughout Florida.Besides shrubs, I also like to live in herbaceous vegetation. I enjoy fields, woods, tall grass, and flower heads.

WHAT DO I EAT?

I feed off of small insects that I am surrounded by. Any insects that are smaller than me, I will eat. I am not very picky.

HOW DO I LOOK?

I am bright green in color. I have an oval abdomen and have long legs. My legs are about ¾ inches in length. I can also have a white or a tan body with legs that are covered in black spines. I have six eyes and two of them face forward.

HOW DO I REPRODUCE?

If I am a female, I reproduce by laying eggs in a sac that hangs in my web. I protect and look after it until all my eggs hatch.
FUN FACT ABOUT ME!

I do not catch my pray in my webs like most spiders, but since I am green and blend in with my territory, I wait on the shrubs I sit on and pounce on my prey like a cat!
