Introduction!
Hi! Lets talk about the Crimson Hedgehog Cactus. Did you know you can find this cactus in the Sonoran Desert? This page is going to help you learn all about how the Crimson Hedgehog Cactus grows, looks, and even how it reproduces. You'll even find out a fun fact about it! Lets get started?

WHO AM I?
I am a Crimson Hedgehog Cactus.

WHERE DO I LIVE?
I live in desert places and mountain desert. I grow during colder climates. I also grow at different elevations.

WHAT DO I EAT?
Since I don’t have a mouth, I don’t actually “eat” anything, well not in the way that you do! I grow from water. When it rains, absorb the water into my roots. This is how I grow!

WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE?
I have three 2 inch spines around my ribs. If you see me, don’t touch! I also have beautiful deep red flowers! In the desert, my flowers are the first to bloom. I also have fruit that can be eaten.

HOW DO I REPRODUCE?
During windy seasons, parts of me get flown off from the wind. These parts fall to the ground and eventually make another plant just like me! They bear flowers with male and female parts, all on the same plant. The Male part produces pollen. The pollen then will fertilize the egg cell in the female part of the plant.

FUN FACT ABOUT ME?

I bloom for 3-5 days and stay open at night!
