CONSTRUCTIVIST THEORY

Constructivist Theory is based off of knowledge.  That its believed that a person learns from and builds from prior knowledge and experiences.  In other words you learn and gain knowledge from your own experience.  Its more geared towards real world learning, hands on.  This website is designed for the constructivist theory.  Its very hands on and applies to real world concepts.  Each site has an activity for students to do and gain experience from it which in turn is gaining knowledge.  Students can explore and discover on their own at their own pace with this website.    

GARDENER'S MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE 

Its important that you hit all learning styles when you are teaching.  With the amount of multimedia being used on this site it makes it a lot easier to try and accomidate to everyone's learning style.  All the different learning styles are addressing in Gardener's Multiple Intelligence.   There is Gardner's Multiple Intelligence:

Bodily-kinesthetic Controls physical movement with special grace or precision
Musical Uses songs, tunes, sounds, and rhythms
Interpersonal Perceives the feelings and needs of others
Intrapersonal Knows own feelings and needs well
Linguistic Uses words and learns languages easily and well
Logical -Mathematical Thinks scientifically, process data spontaneously and quickly

Knowledge Recalls data or Information In order to do the assessment and activities students have to recall the information from the sites
Comprehension Understand the meaning, translation, interpolation, and interpretation of instructions and problems. State a problem in one's own words In order to be successful in any of the activities students will have to have an understanding of the animal on the website
Application Use a concept in a new situation or unprompted use of an abstraction. Applies what was learned in the classroom into novel situations in the work place This site is based on where the students live so they can take the information the learn from the website and and apply it to what surrounds them
Analysis Separates material or concepts into component parts so that its organizational structure may be understood. Distinguishes between facts and inferences The website was designed so that each page was already broken down into certain catertory for the students to easy beable to refer to
Synthesis Builds a structure or pattern from diverse elements. Put parts together to form a whole, with emphasis on creating a new meaning or structure The assessment on the desert items pages requires the student to gather all of the information from the different catorgies to an overall understanding of that item
Evaluation Make judgments about the value of ideas or materials The students can take the hand on activites and what they learned from the site and apply it to their surroundings right outside their door
