Godwin Essang Esu, an economist, is also an academic and researcher, with varying areas of research interest in the field of economics. He has conducted successful researches corporately and independently in areas like, environmental economics, marine resource economics, public sector/policy, econometrics, development economics, public finance, general macroeconomics/microeconomics theories, monetary economics and finance.
Godwin Essang Esu holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in economics (Environmental Economics), and a PhD in economics (Public Finance) from the University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (NIM) and also a member, Nigerian Economic Society (NES). He is presently teaching courses in economics at the Department of Economics, University of Uyo, Uyo, Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He was also involved, as a resource person, in the Akwa Ibom State Post COVID-19 Economic Reconstruction Committee, offering technical/research assistance. He was also actively involved in the compilation of the final report of that committee between May 1 and June 5, 2020. He was also part of the technical team that prepared Vision 2050 Development Plan of the General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) led Federal Government. he has also been part of the economic team that prepared the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2023 to 2025, and have consulted for manage corporate organisations and individuals.
Esu has also bagged a few awards in the course of his carrier in the last few years. These included an Award of Honour by National Fellowship of Economic Christian Students (NAFECS) in recognition of his contribution to the development and growth of the association, June 2018; an Award of Honour from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2008 Batch 'B' as the Best Serving Community Development Service (CDS) Group President, August, 2009; Certificate of Excellence from the Federal Road Safety Commission as the Best Serving Cadet - in - Chief, NYSC Road Safety Club, Kogi State Sector Command, August 2009; Certificate of Excellent Service as the Secretary General of the Nigerian Economics Students' Association, University of Uyo Chapter, March, 2006, and Certificate of Excellence for numerous contributions to the progress of the Nigerian Economics Students' Association, University of Uyo Chapter, March, 2007.
Most importantly, Dr. Esu is a dedicated christian and preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
