German 1

Class overview:

Class will meet weekly at TBD.

Required Materials:

Klasse! A1 Student textbook (Both Online and Print are acceptable)

Klasse! A1 Student workbook (Online only available)

All instruction and homework will occure via Zoom, Moodle, and Blick.com, the online resource for our textbook and workbook.

Course Plan: Follow Klasse! A1 textbook to completion during year. Textbook is designed to prepare students for the Goethe-Institutes A1 competency test.

A1 levels by the end of the academic year.

  • ● Understanding basic grammatical structures, and how to build easy sentences.

  • ● Preparation for German 2, and accreditation tests for A1 levels.

  • ● The ability to read, write and speak basic phrases in German.

  • ● Building vocabulary and exploring aspects of German culture.

  • ● Practicing engaging and participating in a foreign language.
    The hope is that this course will inspire a respect for other cultures, a desire to travel, engage in, and communicate across our ever more connected world.

Who is the class for?

Students in 7th grade or higher who are either new to German or wish to review the basics.

Note* The site and syllabus is underconstruction, so at the moment, it is sparse with information. I will update in the coming weeks as I gather and plan lessons and structure. About me

Servus! I'm Rebecca Strehle. I was born and raised in Omaha, NE, and I have 8 sisters and 3 brothers and over a dozen nibblings( the collective word for niece and nephew). I was a student ambassador to Germany through the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) my senior year of highschool. I studied Art and German at Hillsdale College, and I live in Hillsdale, MI with my husband Shadrach and black cat Fatima.
