Hello! I am Sujin Jang, a machine learning researcher at the Motorola-Lenovo Research group in Chicago, IL. My research work broadly involves machine learning, human-computer interaction, computer vision, and robotics. I received my Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University where I worked with Dr. Karthik Ramani at the C-Design Lab. My research has focused on creating methodologies and principles for effective use of human gesture in HCI. In particular, I have developed methods to analyze and exploit human gesture based on visual analytics integrating machine learning and information visualization; an interactive clustering and collaborative filtering approach for hand pose estimation; biomechanical arm fatigue analysis; and a gestural user interface for human-robot interaction. Currently, I am working on developing machine/deep learning algorithms and computer vision techniques for human activity analysis, natural user interaction design (e.g., AR/VR), and intelligent healthcare systems.
