COMMITTEE MEETING 4 MARCH 2010 IN ATTENDANCE: Graham Norris, Pippa Poore, Katherine Robinson, David Wright, Peter Grosjean, Ian Humphreys, Robin Callender-wood, Tim Snowdon APOLOGIES: Shaun Thorogood 1. SUPER 8 – Graham met with Hugh Sexey’s. They are entering 2 teams, Charlotte 1 team, Chris Millard 1 team and possibly Blue School 1 team. Track events only for other athletes. Sportshall not invited to this ‘Open’. E-mail to parents for help on night. E-mail to all regulars to inform them of this ‘Open’. Time keeper required. First night of MAC Junior Academy to be run separately. 2. MEMBERSHIP - 3 new members. 6 resignations in total. John Young has queried his costs of membership. It was agreed a family membership of £30. Martins wish to change clubs. Majority of Committee wish that we follow the process but let membership fees go to try and finalise things. Shaun to have overall decision. 25 schools have been contacted regarding the MAC Junior Academy with a good response. 3. NETWORK BID - Tim Snowdon attended and explained his role to mentor a group of coaches. This will expand eventually into Athletics 365 which we could run out in January 2011 as a separate event. This is optional but could increase club funds. Tim suggested that we could look into using Crispin Sportshall in winter. Athletics Leader course in Bristol on 5th June for 16 years +. Pippa to purchase 2 sports holdalls for the MAC Junior Academy. 4. BRISTOL & WEST AND TEAM MANAGERS – We decided that we cannot support B & W in the NYAL as we would wish. Team Managers as follows: U13 GIRLS ROBIN CALLENDER-WOOD U13 BOYS KATHY WILLIAMS U15 GIRLS U15 BOYS GRAHAM NORRIS U17 GIRLS PETER GROSJEAN U17 BOYS GRAHAM NORRIS U20 & SEN IAN HUMPHREYS It was agreed that Graham would ask Vicky if she would be interested in being the team manager for the U15 Girls. 5. SWL DIVISION 1-2 PROGRAMME – MAC are in Division 2. It was agreed that we would like to follow a shorten programme 2. 6. STARTRACK – Nothing sent out yet – to be distributed this week. Aviva in hand but not yet registered. E-mail to be sent to previous takers. Leaflets to be sent to schools and handed out by coaches etc. Katherine to deal with the registration. Graham to send last year’s programme to Ian. Targeting years 4 – 8. David to help if required. 7. ACCOUNTS - Including cross country funds, no expenses deducted yet. £2,800 GRR cheque has been signed but not yet received. 8. GLASTONBUTY ROAD RUN – Going reasonable well. Permission received from Police. Have Heart FM and WI on day. Need to start sorting out who is doing what. Next meeting on Monday 8th March. SW Veterans wish to hold a race on the 5k course – normal entry fees apply but hopefully a lot of takers. 9. NEWBIES – Agreed that the name should be changed to MAC JUNIOR ACADEMY. Shaun to change name on website. 10. ENDURANCE TRAINING – MONDAY – Structured sessions required – to raise point at next meeting. Kathy to be invited if necessary or possibly separate Endurance Coaches Meeting. 11. YOUTH COACHES – Raise this point at next meeting. This might not work with a 1 hour session if the youth coaches also want to train. 12. TESCO – Pack received. Sainsbury’s Active – David to register club with them. E-mail to be sent to members advising them we are now registered with both and club to start collecting vouchers. 13. FIXTURES LIST – Ian to send Peter last year’s card template. All groundwork completed. 100 to print. Ready for 25th March to hand out. 14. SCHOOL CLUB LINKS – Hugh Sexey’s interested in club link. Need to find out if club link has been renewed for Blue School. Flyers to be produced. 15. COMPETITIONS – Cross country very good. Junior school cross country on 2nd March had 330 kids. Next at Tor Leisure on 23rd March last match of season and presentation. First race at 4pm presentation at 5:30 pm. Help required if possible. Medals etc needed for 23rd March. Inter-Area competition on 31st March at Montacute House. 16. AOB – none
