The Run has a wide range of awards that are listed below. It is not practical to award all of these on the day so many will be notified shortly after the event by post, or for our younger runners via their school.

Cups

There is a mixture of honorary, perpetual and annual (to keep) cups.

Honarary

1. The Tor Trophy. This dates back to the 1930’s and is awarded to the First Male Glastonian in the 10K race
2. The Glastonbury Bowl. This is awarded to the First Female Glastonian.

 Both of these cups because of their monetary and historic value are kept at the Glastonbury Town Hall.

Perpetual

1. The Hugh Sharp Cup. In honor of Hugh Sharp who was a founding member of the race and is awarded to the First Male in the 10K race.
2. The Karly Rogers Cup. Karly was a keen competitor in the race, who unfortunately died young. The cup is awarded to the First Female in the 10K race.
3. The Glastonbury Leisure Centre Cup. The Leisure Centre was involved with the run for a number of years and in particular Stuart Mapstone. The cup is awarded to the first Female (school year 7 or 8) in the 3K race.
4. The Mendip Athletics Club Cup is awarded to the first Male (school year 7 or 8) in the 3K race.
5. The Arthur Hickman Cup is awarded to the first Male (school year 9 or 10) in the 5K race.
6. The Gifford Cup is awarded to the first Female (school year 9 or 10) in the 5K race.

All the above cups are awarded on the day.

All winners are asked to return their cups to the Glastonbury Town Hall one month in advance of the next year’s race.

Annual (Keep)

Awarded to the first Boy and first Girl (school year 6 or below) in the Fun Run. These are awarded on the day. 

Glastonbury Grail

This is awarded to the best Fancy dress and can be in any event. The award was started and awarded by the Mid Somerset News and Media. This awarded on the day.

Clarification

If a male or female Glastonian is the outright winner of the 10K race then they would win both the honorary Cup and the perpetual Cup.

Cash Prizes

Course Record

For the first time the 2010 will have a Accumulator run on the 10K Men and Women’s races, and is awarded for breaking the course record. Set at £100 initially, should the record remain unbroken then the prize will be increased by another £100 next year, and so on until it is won.

Category Winners

There are 24 cash prizes totalling in all £1250. We will award cheques on the day to the first, second and third men and women in the 10K race on the day.

Clarification

Should a runner win more than one category then they will receive the cash prize of the greatest value.

Medals 

Every Runner that completes their race will be awarded a medal. We also have a number of categories that will receive a special medal. Where it is known we will try to get the schools to present the medals.

 Points of Clarification

1. It is very common that people compete is a shorter race than that they are eligible to enter. This is perfectly acceptable but of course invalidates them from winning any of the above prizes.
2. The organisers work out the eligibility of runners based on the information supplied on the entry form. Unfortunately not all entry forms are fully completed.
