HALLOWEEN ROMANCE

“Andy” is not your typical smoking hot vamp. He appears gaunt and stickly as a result of consuming animal blood instead of human. Not really a big issue, different but not bad. Selene is said to be some-what geeky herself, not the typical drop dead sexy heroine one might expect in a romance. The fact that the hero and heroine are basically “normal” in the looks department I found to be a bit refreshing. Hey we all want the big sexy hunk, but in reality, most of us fall into the normal range...the characters were relatable and the friendships meaningful."

Halloween Romance is a love story about two young people who happened to be paranormal beings....Their relationship was a typical college love story. There were a few light moments and the epilogue tied up the story nicely. Those that like romance will probably like this book.

Halloween Romance is a really fun paranormal romance. It is well written with snappy dialogue. The acceptance and love that Ferdinand and Selene have for one another is very touching. Ms. Haymond’s spooky, yet romantic novel is a perfect companion for a chilly fall night when things that go bump in the night are rampant.

I found Halloween Romance to be different, but refreshing in a lot of ways. First, the characters are normal, everyday college students. They aren't gorgeous alpha males and beautiful ladies. Instead, they look and act as anyone else does. I am not saying that I don't enjoy those alpha hunks or that I don't dream of being one of the beautiful women that manage to snag them, but I am saying that Halloween Romance was a nice change of pace.

One of the first things I noticed was that Selene's and Ferdinand's friends all knew about their “condition”. It was a little surprising that their friends knew, and that they were taking it all in stride, and even helping them live with their differences. However, the acceptance, caring, and love between all characters turned out to be a nice touch.

Overall, Halloween Romance moves along at a steady pace with only a few hitches in flow. The character development was great, as was the plot.

Halloween Romance was a fun read. This is my first experience with Donaya Haymond. I did a little research and learned that the author is only eighteen years old, and was impressed that someone so young is already a published author. Her writing is good now, but I am sure with experience and a few more books under her belt, she will refine her talent and will become an author to watch.

BITE ME

One of the main reasons I gave this book a top rating is because Ms. Haymond took subjects; vampires, werewolves and shape-shifters and changed the norms for them. In this story they can actually get sick and die. I love paranormal stories, and I enjoyed having a different perspective. A more humanistic story. Dianne is the main character and she is going through a change of her own along with dealing with her parents' illness. I also liked how Ms. Haymond ties in all the characters at the end, giving a good ending if you stop with this one, but leaving it wide open for pulling you into reading future books in this series. The other reason I gave this a high rating, is simple, I wanted to immediately buy the 1st in the series to read. I think that's a sign of a good story for me.

I, for one, will be delighted to read more of Donaya Haymond's work. The best line from this book is this, "Life bites, but I bite back." Even in the real world we should all remember this. Bite Me, is a fantastic Paranormal not to be missed! Donaya Haymond is a breath of fresh air for this reviewer, a true delight to read.

Donaya speaks to the part of me that has been in the back of mind since my time in middle school and I have to admit, I only wish I could have done what her characters do in her awesome tale Bite Me.
