I skinned up towards Robinson Lake, then to the base of the University Pass Shortcut Variation. Strong winds were forecasted, but I only witnessed occasional strong gusts. I booted up the couloir of the Shortcut Variation and while nearing the ridge, could hear the winds howling. As soon as I reached the southeast ridge, I had to layer up for the remainder of the day. I climbed the southeast ridge to the summit of University Peak. I descended to the top of the north couloir and dropped in. The snow was smooth, packed powder at the top, but became very rough at the bottom of the couloir. The snow down in the valley was much nicer. I measured a slope angle of 45 degrees in the couloir.

The south slopes of Mount Gould usually hold snow, but not this season.
