I had to pick up my friend at the Reno Airport at 2 pm, so a short day was in order. I chose ”Pointless Peak”. I skinned up Rock Creek Road to Rock Creek Lake, then up to the base of the most northern of the Y gullies. I booted up, taking slope measurements just below the choke at 43 degrees. I dropped my gear just below the summit and scampered to the top getting great views of the Mount Abbot area and down the steep, north face of “Pointless”. I skied down primarily staying to the gut or south-facing side. I tested the recently wind-loaded, north-facing side twice, resulting in small slides each time.
