George Washington Boer Goats

Home

Welcome to George Washington Boer Goats!  We are centrally located in the Columbia Basin, just 5 miles south of George, Washington.  We have been in business since 2007, offering primarily commercial Boers for the table.  We are in the process of converting our herd to registered Boers and look forward to offering wethers for 4-H and FFA projects beginning in 2011.  Please contact us to reserve your goat for next year!

News from the farm
May 15, 2011 -Kidding season is finally over here at GWBG.  I am pleasantly surprised by all the color our buck, DGG1 Quetzalcoatl, is throwing.  We have traditional, paint, solid, and even a couple kids with capes, just like their great-grandsire, RRD V808.  We skipped the Wild West show in Yakima to finish up kidding, but we're setting our sights on the next shows in June.
March 4, 2011- A visit to Parker's Gourmet Goats to select my "birthday goat", resulted in not one, but three gorgeous doelings.  Thanks, Terry and Perry!  One of the little gals is a bottle baby who got to spend a few nights of cold weather in the living room, much to the delight of my children.
January 11, 2011- We are pleased to announce the arrival of Finnegan Michael Moore on 11/10/10.  He is happy, healthy, and hungry.  The goats are wintering well, though I'm getting tired of breaking ice and packing water.   I took a bad spill on the ice the other day, bruised but thankfully not broken!  Scot is busy building a new kidding barn for this spring.  Winter is a great time for making plans.  I'm especially excited about trying my hand in the show ring this summer.
October 20, 2010 - I love looking out at the goat pens and seeing that big stack of hay!  We've had frost the last 4 nights, and I don't doubt I'll be breaking ice soon.  I finished upgrading the kidding and weaning pens, (but still haven't found my doggone post puller!).  Only 3 weeks until my "kidding" date!
September 21, 2010 - I've heard it's supposed to be a rough winter in eastern this year, thanks to El Nino.  Hopefully that means lots of precipitation to help our dryland pastures out next year.  Quetzalcoatl is running with about half the does right now.  He's young, but seems to be getting the hang of his job.  The summer kids are ready to be weaned, once I finish up their winter pen.  Now if I could just find that t-post puller!  We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our third child in November.  I have to admit that I'm slowing down as the due date approaches.
August 27, 2010 - A cold front has hit the Columbia Basin and it feels like fall!  We are getting ready to start our breeding season for spring kids.  I'm watching for signs of heat as we have introduced Quetzalcoatl to the pen adjacent to the does.  We have a load of hay and I've already started feeding as the summer pasture dwindles.  I'm thankful to have sold my commercial buck, Rudy.  I have to admit the whole place smells a little bit sweeter in his absence.  He always spent a lot of time attending to his bucky scent!
