Mrs. Prejean’s Classroom Policies and Procedures

Dear Parents,

I am looking forward to working with your child in math and science this school year. The following form contains helpful information that will assist you throughout the school year. If you have any questions, please write a note, email (tprejean@lpssonline.com), or call me at the school.

Instructional Fees and important documents- Please send a$25.00 instruction fee as soon as possible. Here is the link to pay online: https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/stores/getstoremain?clientKey=ZZOFIQ3489WS3LI .

This fee will be used to purchase items for our science and math stations, printer ink for student use, math manipulatives to enhance hands on learning and rewards for positive behavior. I will also need a utility bill (proof of residence) asap. A student handbook will also go home. You may keep the handbook, but please sign page 5. Students will not be able to logon to Chromebooks until this page is signed.

Math- I try to cover one lesson per day and give a test at the end of each topic. If students are having difficulty with a lesson it may take us a couple days. If this happens I will push the test back a day or two. I will let you know when my tests are scheduled on my website. I have also posted lesson videos and homework answer keys to my website. Please buy or make your child multiplication flash cards. Students who have difficulty in 4th grade math are often not fluent with basic facts.

Science- I will post test dates on this website. We often will not have study guides for the tests because many of our test questions have us explain what we learned during class experiments. Students will have to take home notebooks to look over what we did in class.

Homework- We will have math homework every night. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I often give students time in class to complete homework. However, you might want to check over it. If it is taking your child a significant amount of time to complete homework, please let me know, and I will make adjustments. Students will also have to study/look over notes for science tests. Homework is for practice! I put the answer key on my website, and there are plenty of helpful YouTube videos. If you or your child has any questions about the homework please let me know. We don't always have time to check it in class.

Planner & red folder- Students are required to write homework every day in his/ her planner. Your child will also bring home a red folder. This folder will contain important documents to either keep at home or return to school.

Test Papers- I am unsure how test papers will go home this year. I'll let you know at a later date. We will be taking most of our tests on the computer due to Covid.

Absences- Please send an excuse for all absences within 5 days!

Behavior- Mrs. Hogue and I will be using Class Dojo to inform you of your child's behavior in class. You can download the app on your smart phone or find it online at www.classdojo.com.

Leadership binders- Students will be tracking goals in his/her leadership binders. We will be tracking conduct, AR, and math computation.

Website-Please check website often for important information about the week. You can find it at https://sites.google.com/prod/lpssonline.com/tprejean

Technology- We use google classroom. You can log on to your child's account to see work done during the day. You must logon to google. Their user ID is their email address; therefore, it is followed by @lpssonline.com. Their password is their date of birth. Their passwords are in their planner. They will not be setup until the technology permission slip has been returned (in student handbook). Most of our assessments will be on the computer.

Sincerely,

Tara Prejean
